Affiliate marketing is the activity of promoting and selling a company's products or services in exchange for money (commissions). Similar to a commission-only salesman, you are only paid when you make a sale.
The idea is that you promote other people's products in exchange for a commission if others buy as a result of your promotion, which is generally done through an affiliate network.
It operates on the basis of income sharing. An affiliate network may offer a monetary incentive to promoters if you have a product and want to sell more of it. If you don't have a product but want to generate money, you can promote one that you believe is worthwhile.

The affiliate channel, when properly managed, may account for a significant portion of a company's online revenue, with a high return on investment (ROI) and cheap cost per acquisition (CPA).

Networks NetworksAffiliate networks act as an intermediary between website publishers and merchant affiliate programs.
The majority of merchant programs have a revenue share model, as opposed to a fee-per-action model.
Traditional affiliate networks might charge an initial setup fee and/or a recurring membership fee.
